Mutare’s Miss Glamour Empire Paves the Way for Zimbabwean Models on the Global Stage

By Evans Jona

MUTARE — Zimbabwe’s modelling industry is steadily gaining momentum, and a rising force from the eastern city of Mutare is making waves both locally and internationally. Miss Glamour Empire Zimbabwe International, led by CEO Pretty Takaendisa, is positioning itself as a powerhouse in nurturing local talent to compete on global platforms.

“The current state of Zimbabwe’s modelling industry is vibrant and full of potential,” Takaendisa said. “Despite challenges — particularly for young talent facing age-related hurdles — our models are boldly representing Zimbabwe on international stages.”

Miss Glamour Empire Zimbabwe International was born out of a vision to empower women through beauty pageants and fashion, providing avenues for young Zimbabwean talent to access opportunities abroad. “Our mission is to represent Zimbabwe internationally and open doors for our models on a global scale,” said Takaendisa.

Local collaboration is proving fruitful. According to Takaendisa, brands, designers, and event organizers in Mutare have been quick to embrace homegrown models. “Designers line up to dress our models for high-profile events, including fashion shows in Nairobi,” she noted.

In the era of social media, Miss Glamour Empire Zimbabwe International is also leveraging technology to enhance visibility. Takaendisa emphasized that maximizing online presence has become central to ensuring models reach global audiences.

The agency’s models are trained and mentored to build sustainable careers rather than treat modelling as a short-term venture. Zimbabwean talents like Progress Takaendisa, Natalia Manzunzu, Ruvarashe Takadii, and Ruvimbo Nyengerai have undergone rigorous preparation, gaining the skills needed to succeed on international platforms.

Looking ahead, Takaendisa is optimistic about the future of Zimbabwe’s fashion and modelling industry. “Top models are poised to dominate regional runways, feature in international campaigns, and collaborate with global brands,” she said, highlighting the significant role regional hubs like Mutare will play in this growth over the next five to ten years.

As Zimbabwe continues to cultivate its pool of talented models, agencies like Miss Glamour Empire Zimbabwe International are not only shaping the careers of individual talents but are also elevating the country’s presence in the competitive international fashion arena.
