State-owned telecommunications giant NetOne on Friday marked its first participation in the National Clean-Up Day in 2026, joining hundreds of volunteers in a coordinated environmental clean-up exercise in Harare’s central business district.
The initiative commenced at the NetOne Building at Kopje Plaza before moving along Rottenrow into Samora Machel and ending at Rowan Martin, drawing strong participation from NetOne staff and community members united by a shared commitment to environmental responsibility.
Speaking on the sidelines of the clean-up, NetOne Public Relations Graduate Trainee, Linda Gutsa, said the exercise was a practical demonstration of the company’s dedication to environmental sustainability, one of its key strategic pillars aligned with the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
“At NetOne, this clean-up campaign is a deliberate expression of our strategic pillar on Environmental Sustainability, which is firmly anchored in the National Development Strategy 2,” said Gutsa.

She emphasized that sustainable development goes beyond infrastructure expansion and digital connectivity, noting the importance of protecting the environment that underpins Zimbabwe’s economic and social advancement.
“We fully understand that sustainable development is not only about infrastructure and connectivity, but also about preserving the environment that supports our economic and social progress,” she said.
Gutsa added that the initiative responds directly to the call by President Emmerson Mnangagwa for both institutions and citizens to collectively safeguard cleanliness and order as part of nation-building.
“Our message to our customers and the community is simple but powerful: national development begins with individual and institutional discipline,” she said. “Clean environments promote health, productivity and pride, which are essential ingredients for Vision 2030.”
Through its participation, NetOne reaffirmed its role not only as a telecommunications service provider but also as a responsible national asset committed to aligning its corporate social responsibility programmes with Government priorities.
“NetOne is playing its part—supporting national programmes that build resilient communities and a sustainable future for generations to come,” Gutsa said.
