Chipinge District Development Coordinator, Mr William Mashava, has asserted that development of Chipinge lies in its ability to value add its agricultural products.
Mr Mashava said this in his key note address during the launch of pine apple cluster of Chipinge Chamber of Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on 28 June 2023 in Chipinge.
“The key to get a vibrant Chipinge lies in the ability of your initiative towards value addition. In as much as we look forward to accrue extra value in our products, we also hope that these initiatives shall create jobs associated with processing and other downstream activities.
“We have land, expertise, production, organizational abilities of the ministries, chamber of SMEs and our regulators. The district will forever be grateful to your commitment to this value addition program,” he said.
Chipinge district is agro based and a hub of tea, coffee, macadamia nuts, banana, pine apple, maize and avocado pear production.
The pine apple cluster of Chipinge Chamber of SMEs shall look at various way of how farmers can supply the international market with value added products.
During the launch, Standards Association of Zimbabwe, ZimTrade and financial institutions addressed farmers on how best they can achieve supplying the international market.
