RUSAPE, Zimbabwe – Two people died and three others were injured on Saturday when a car driven by former Caps United and ex-Zimbabwe international star Alouis Bunjira collided head-on with a pickup truck along the Rusape-Nyanga Road, police said.
The crash occurred around 10 a.m. near the 8-kilometer peg when an Isuzu pickup, carrying three passengers, attempted to overtake a bus in the face of Bunjira’s oncoming BMW.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 8 km peg along Rusape-Nyanga Road today (16/08/25) at around 1000 hours,” police spokesperson said in a statement.
“Two people died, while three others were injured, after an Isuzu pickup truck, which had three passengers on board, tried to overtake a bus while there was an oncoming BMW vehicle. The BMW vehicle was being driven by Alouis Bunjira with one passenger on board. The vehicles collided head-on, resulting in the death of two passengers from the Isuzu vehicle.”
The bodies were taken to Rusape General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem, while the injured, including survivors from both vehicles, were admitted at the same hospital.
