Bulawayo-The country`s largest beer and beverage manufacturer, Delta Corporation says it is currently investing between US$40 and US$50 million annually to modernize and expand operations across the country.
The corporation board chairman Todd Moyo said this recently while officiating at the ground breaking ceremony for a new US$35 million brewhouse in Belmont in the second largest city.
“The upgrade of the Belmont plant is key to improving the supply of our brands and packs to the market assuring our consumers and customers of the high quality they expect from Delta. The total cost of the project will be US$35 million with the new packaging line alone costing US$17 million.

“These investments include the new glass packaging line and fermentation tanks installed at Southerton Brewery in Harare, the Chibuku Superplant in Harare and a new PET packaging line at Graniteside. This shows our commitment to the country as a whole,” said Moyo.
The chairman said the investment signals renewed confidence in the city`s industrial revival.
“This project reconnects with our history and heritage. Whilst many industries have moved north to Harare over the years, Delta remains deeply rooted in Bulawayo and in Matabeleland.
“By investing here again, we reaffirm our faith in this great city, its people, its talent, its industrial spirit and its future as Zimbabwe’s industrial heartbeat,” said Moyo.
Moyo implored the local authority to continue prioritizing water provision for the industry and community as this was necessary to attract investors.
“We call upon the Bulawayo City Council to continue prioritizing water provision for industry and community. For other investors to come and join us in Bulawayo it is necessary that we have reliable water supply, “he said.

Moyo also said Delta will continue to collaborate with local authority and government on infrastructure renewal.
“Delta will also continue to collaborate with the local authority and government on infrastructure renewal. As we break this ground today, we are not merely laying a foundation for a building.
“We are laying a foundation for another 70 years of innovation, growth and excellence. Let this be a signal that Delta is here in Bulawayo to stay, to grow and to contribute to Zimbabwe’s economic development,” said the chairman.
He highlighted that the project’s benefits go far beyond beer production as it will create employment for the local community.
“This project is not only about beer. It is about jobs. It is about skills. And it is also about growth. It will create employment during construction and provide opportunities for local contractors, engineers, artisans and suppliers especially from Bulawayo and surrounding communities,” said Moyo.
