ZNA Warns Public Against Fake 2026 Recruitment Advert Circulating on Social Media

By Staff Reporter

The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has cautioned members of the public against a fraudulent recruitment advert currently making rounds on social media, warning that it is being used by mischief makers to mislead and defraud unsuspecting applicants.

In a statement issued by the ZNA, the Army’s Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Hlengiwe Dube, said the public should remain vigilant and rely only on official communication channels for any information related to recruitment.

Colonel Dube said the ZNA was concerned by the emergence of the purported advert, noting that it has been “flighted” by individuals intent on exploiting members of the public for personal gain.

“The Zimbabwe National Army would like to inform members of the public to be on the lookout for a fake ZNA recruitment advert circulating on social media platforms,” Colonel Dube said.

She further clarified that the organization has not released any general duty soldiers’ recruitment advert for 2026, adding that the ZNA does not use social media platforms as a recruitment tool.

“The organization has not flighted any general duty soldiers’ recruitment advert for 2026. In the same vein, the ZNA does not use social media platforms for the purpose of recruitment,” the statement said.

According to the ZNA, official recruitment information is communicated through formal channels such as electronic and print media. Colonel Dube also emphasized that the army does not engage third parties for recruitment and does not charge any fee to prospective applicants.

The ZNA warned that anyone found collaborating with, or advertising, recruitment “agents” on its behalf, particularly those associated with the fake advert, will face prosecution.

“If anyone is caught associating themselves with recruiting in the ZNA, they will be prosecuted,” Colonel Dube said.

Members of the public were urged that, should they encounter suspicious individuals posing as recruitment agents, they should report immediately to the authorities.

The ZNA advised that suspicious characters be reported without delay to the nearest Zimbabwe Republic Police station or any nearby military camp, and that the Military Police hotline be contacted on *0712842318* and *0772258410*.

The warning comes as social media continues to be used by fraudsters to circulate misleading information, underlining the need for citizens to verify any recruitment claims through official ZNA platforms and publications.
