City of Mutare Clerk, Joshua Maligwa has died, he was 48.
Maligwa died today in the afternoon after he tested positive of Covid-19 few days ago.
Mutare City Mayor, His Worship, Blessing Tandi, confirmed Maligwa’s death, and told Post On Sunday that they are torn apart and in great pain for the untimely death of Maligwa.
“It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing on of our Town Clerk, Mr Joshua Maligwa. He breathed his last this afternoon after succumbing to Covid1-19”
“Mutare and Manicaland atlarge we have lost an eminent dedicated Local Government practitioner of repute, whose impact were felt beyond the borders” Tandi said.
Rusape and Mutare residents have learnt of the passing on of Maligwa with great shock as many wished him out of his office by bringing false political and professional allegations, Maligwa left a legacy that will forever be cherished.
Having joined Rusape in 2012, a great administrative and developmental change was noticed in the Town of Rusape.
Left in 2017 to join Mutare City as Town Clerk the position he held until the time of his death, Maligwa transformed the city and good working relations within Mutare City Council workers.
Tandi added that the late City Clerk devoted his entire energy and dedicated his intellectual prowess and capacity to make a difference at Civic Centre.
“We shall forever cherish his work, the passing on of Maligwa has delt us a huge blow, given the momentum that we have so far attained in turning around the state of service delivery in Mutare”
Due to the nature of his death, and Covid-19 regulations, people will not gather in mourning, funeral and burial arrangements will be advised in due course by family members, Tandi said.
Maligwa was staying in Murambi. May his soul rest in peace
