Property Worth Thousands Recovered In Chipinge

CHIPINGE- Detectives in the border town of Manicaland have arrested Tinashe Manandi (23) of Maunganidze Village and Wisdom Mtisi (20) of Bosclof B/Centre under Chief Mutema, Chipinge for 7 counts of unlawful entry and 4 counts of theft from motor vehicles.

Goods recovered include groceries, car batteries, motorbikes, blankets, mattresses and kitchen utensils valued at ZW$311 898.00 and property worthy ZW$116 386.00 with the accused yet to appear in court.

Chipinge police spokesperson, Vincent Chikuvadze, told Post On Sunday that,”Following a spate of unlawful entry into premises and theft from motor vehicle cases in Chipinge where criminals broke door locking system to gain entry and smash windows to steal from motor vehicles, detectives carried out an operation to account for these perpetrators”

“On the 9th day of April 2021 we received information to the effect that the accused persons were selling the stolen property in Chipinge town hence we reacted to the information and arrested the accused persons leading to the recovery of properties” added Chikuvadze

“We are cautioning the public from purchasing properties without proper verification since it is an offense under Section 125 of the Criminal Law [Codification and Reform] Act Chapter 123 to buy stolen property,” he said.
