State Owned Mobile Telecommunications giant NetOne’s continues to lead mobile network operation industry come after recording once again a growth in mobile subscription beating its counterpart econet and telecel on it’s silver jubilee year.
This followed by statistics from the just released Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) Sector Performance Report for the 3rd quarter in 2021 recently that netone record an increase of it’s subscribers by 3,4 percent.
This marked as a noble stride because as per 30 September their mobile penetration rate increase by 2,2 percent therefore, the stride made in third quarter leap frog them from 91,3 percent to 93,5 percent.
In commending the developments Netone CEO Mr Raphael Mushanawani said, they are pleased to let the public know that we are serious about the mandate they have given us to their digital communication -solutions partner.
Meanwhile, of the increase in the whole sector, NetOne recorded the highest growth rate than Econet and Telecel, which recorded slighltly above two percent and insignificant less than one percent respectively.
“As part of our thrust to positively contribute towards Vision 2030, Making Zimbabwe a middle-class-economy, we have taken a deliberate move to increase our subscriber base. Further this goal is in alignment with the National Development Strategy One, to digitalize the economy and facilitate access to ICT’s at village level.
” ICTs are at the heart of development of the Zimbabwean economy and as such we are directing all our efforts towards connecting the unconnected. We continue to invest in infrastructure to make sure that there is increased network coverage to previously marginalized areas.” Said, Netone Spokes person Roselyn Chisveto.
According to POTRAZ reports, NetOne has gained market share of 2G, 3G and LTE by 0.1 percent, 0.4 percent and 2.2 percent respectively.
NetOne has pleadged to continuously enhancing its product and services portfolio to suit the lifestyle of its customers. This insane achievement been following our journey and coincided with netone’s silver jubilee.
Apart from gaining significant mobile subscription,other crazy innovation drive has seen NetOne introducing OneMoney Remit,Hurudza/UmlimiOmkhulu,and e-agriculture platform,OneHealth, a platform that allows customers to get smart health solutions on the go and launched Dzidzo/Ifundo platform for University students to access e-learning which is appreciated in times that we are in, especially with the effects of novel corona virus.
