Marondera – Police in Marondera are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a one year three months child by fire after being left alone by the mother (Nyaradzo Madziva(24) who had gone to a nearby shop.
Madziva who resides in Elmswood Park is said to have left the child without guardian sleeping in the house.
It was reported that on her way back she saw her neighbours trying to put out the fire and the baby was already dead.
When she entered the house, she discovered that her daughter had died from the fire and her body was covered in burns.
The body was conveyed to Marondera Provincial Hospital.
While the cause of the fire is still being investigated, Police in Marondera are appealing to members of the public to always look after their children and not leave infants alone at home.
They also advised parents to leave someone with small children rather than leaving them on their own in cases where its urgent for them to go somewhere.
