Billionaire, Nawab Shaji UI Mulk landed in the country, Zimbabwe, Friday evening ahead of the first Zim Afro TTen cricket launch and match set to start on July 20 2023 to July 29 2023 at the Zimbabwe Cricket Grounds in Harare.
Mulk, the brains behind the 10 overs, 90 min match introduced the game few months ago at an event that was graced by senior government officials at the Harare International Conference Centre with the support of Zimbabwe Cricket.
He is the country’s investor behind the ZIM CYBER CITY which holds over 500 000sqm of real estate in Zimbabwe, designed for the elite, speaking and responding to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, 12, 13 and 17, which aims to ensure health lives by adapting to current climatic requirements and mitigation for greenhouse gases.
Zim Cyber City has partnered with Zim Afro T10, supporting and organizing for the successful launch of the match on Thursday, July 20 2023.
He told the Post On Sunday Newspaper that introducing the 90 minutes cricket match was inspired by a soccer match between Real Madrid Vs Kashima Antler which he watched until the end.
Mulk is selling the Afro T10 Cricket franchises, which were six and the South African Franchise has already been taken.
“I invested US$10 million for the Afro T10,” Mulk said.
“This landmark project will not only boost the economy but also promote Zimbabwe’s sport tourism and hospitality industry and promote the nation and Africa at large,” Mulk added.
Celebrities and Bollywood actors are expected to attend, participate and perform during the launch on Thursday.
For the past weeks, T10 management and crew were working flat out to see the successful launch of the matches and today, Sunday schools that have been invited, played at Prince Edward High School and the students will feature in the final match with senior international players on the 20th.
Speaking to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Tumisang Thabela, she said she was delighted to receive such an invitation, support and honour for the benefit of schools and students in sporting disciplines. T10 will be introduced in schools soon and arrangements are that, resources are mobilized for the training of the students in various schools.
Schools that performed well today received awards and on the 20th, Students will also walk away with prizes for best performance in the first match of the T10.
