Netone Joins EMA On National Clean-Up Campaign

Mobile phones network service operator NetOne in partnership with Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and Harare City Council recently cleaned the city, areas surround the NetOne Kopje plaza as an opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability in the country.

It is in line with One of the milestones launched by His Excellency, The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Mnangagwa, Themed “Zero Tolerance To Litter: My environment My Pride”.

As charity begins at home NetOne have put in place branded swinging bins surrounding the boundaries of NetOne Kopje plaza building and clean the place to maintain a clean and safe environment.

General Manager for OneMoney and the Acting Chief Commercial Officer Learnmore Musunda mentioned that the clean-up campaign involves all our NetOne offices and also everywhere where we operate. Right now as I speak, all our offices in Masvingo, Bulawayo, Beitbridge, Gweru, Kwekwe and others are actually participating in this intiative.

“This intiative is actually supporting government’s drive towards cleaning our local environment. So we are actually supporting government as you are aware that every first Friday of each month, government gave instruction for citizens to clean up where they live and work, so this is what we are doing”, said Musunda.

“As we are actually supporting government’s initiative, this is happening across Zimbabwe.We partner EMA and local authorities, not only local authorities in cities and towns but we are also actually working with growth points and rural local boards”, he added

The National Clean-Up exercise has had a positive impact on the environment and the communities in which it is held. The exercise has helped to raise awareness about the importance of environmental cleanliness and has encouraged citizens to take responsibility for their environment.

NetOne has also implemented other initiatives aimed at promoting environmental sustainability. These include the installation of solar-powered base stations, which reduce the company’s carbon footprint, and the use of electric vehicles in its operations, which reduce emissions.

The Clean-Up exercise was joined by the General Manager of Mobile Financial Services Learnmore Musunda , Head Legal & Company Secretary Mrs Plaxedes Chikutu, Head Marketing & PR Ms Roselyne Chisveto, A/Head Audit & Risk Mr Mutsvangiwa Masvingise, Procurement Manager Mr Musara among others, leading by example.

NetOne bestows as a patron moving to ensure the country has sustainable environment management and waste disposal systems.
