Church-Trust Marriage Set To Benefit Mutare

Church based organization Christian Business Forum (CBF) and Tonganyika Trust are embarking on a worth while program set for the 12th to the 17th of September in a bid to impart poverty alleviation skills on church members in Mutare amid disturbing poverty levels in the city.

The push comes at a time when Mutare is one of the worst hit cities by perennial hardships that span from high inflation, lack of quality resources, innovation, high unemployment rates, and overpopulation.

Christian Business Forum (CBF) Provincial Chairman Dr Jona Mashaba confirmed the development to Post On Sunday Newspaper citing that the 5 day workshop is meant to target as many church members as possible.

“The workshop is starting on the 12th of September and it’s going for a couple of days. It’s a collaborative effort between us and Tonganyika Trust. The basic idea is to cover as much ground as possible when it comes to issues of enriching peoples lives during these tough times. Out target is church community since they have always been signatory to CBF.”

The 5 day workshop will see members receive training on a plethora of livelihood enriching skills that span from hotel and catering, information and technology (IT) to dispensary assistance.

“There are a lot of skills on offer which include hotel and catering, detergant formulation, dairy juicy, welding, beauty therapy, ECD training, dispensary assistant, information technology, refrigration and air condition, cutting and designing, interior decon and enterprenurship and business management. As our name Christian Business Forum implies, our thrust is to empower churches with livelihoods skills and by so doing that its half way in resolving poverty induced domestic violence,” added Dr Mashaba.

Tonganyika Trust Assistant Training Officer Dr Forward Gonese said entrepreneurship is key in developing the less privileged in such dier times.

“Entrepreneurship development skills . At the same time educating the less privileged people in their communities, bringing the initiative in their door step as a promotion to those who may think it’s hard to find it. The community will be equiped by professionals of different skills from bakers, welders, to beauty therapist. The certificates shall awarded after trainings.”

Tonganyika Trust was founded by Tongai Mnangagwa.
One of their main mantras is to assist those in need of livelihood development.

Christian Business Forum has so far spearheaded peace projects, the latest being the 12th of August 2023 Manicaland Provincial Peace prayer day ahead of harmonised elections.
