Rev Preston Majoni to Launch New Book Urging Readers to ‘Rediscover Their Purpose for Existence’

By Evans Jona

MUTARE – Reverend Preston Majoni is preparing to launch his latest work, Rediscover Your Purpose for Existence, a faith-based and motivational book that he says will challenge readers to awaken the “giant” within them and reclaim their God-given calling.

Speaking ahead of the official launch scheduled for September, Majoni said the inspiration came from his conviction that every person carries an inborn divine assignment.

“The inspiration for writing this book emanates from the fact that within each and every human spirit lies a divine purpose bestowed upon us by our Maker upon birth,” Majoni said. “A giant is lying inside our hearts waiting to be awakened. This book is a reminder to the reader to rediscover that purpose by pulling the right strings towards the realization of such a dream.”

He described Rediscover Your Purpose for Existence as a work for “dreamers, visionaries, and individuals who dare to imagine a better world and strive to make their visions a reality.” He added: “It is meant to encourage the readers that their unwavering belief in the power of hope, their relentless pursuit of positive change, and their dedication to making a difference are the right steps towards inspiring them to reach their full potential and to live purposeful lives.”

For Majoni, “rediscovering” is not simply about finding something new, but about reigniting what is already within. “’Rediscovering’ implies that there is an inherent worth within each individual, a beacon of hope that is meant to guide us towards self-discovery and the ultimate realization of our unique and divinely ordained purpose,” he explained. “From my personal experience, I realized that the path to purpose is often winding and challenging, but the destination is worth the effort, for it is in the realization of our unique callings that we experience the deepest fulfillment and joy.”

The book draws heavily on Majoni’s own life journey, from growing up in a family steeped in African Traditional Religion (ATR) to answering the call to Christian ministry. “Having been born and bred in a family that practiced African Traditional Religion, it was not a conducive atmosphere for one to rediscover his purpose of serving God in a Christian fraternity,” he said. “When I first received my calling, I wondered: Is God unfolding a greater plan that will bring even more purpose and fulfillment to my life?”

Majoni recounted how he initially resisted the call, choosing instead to remain in his profession as a qualified motor vehicle technician with Puzey and Payne. “Becoming a minister of religion was out of the equation. I was satisfied with the job, and the salary was very tempting, so I opted for another job,” he said.

But he said God’s persistence could not be ignored. “My major worry was not about leaving my profession, but the assurance and financial security of my social life,” Majoni recalled. “Eventually, I asked God for assurance that I would not fail to care for my family after becoming a servant in His vineyard. Just like Gideon, I asked for a sign. I prayed for the divine providence of money.”

That sign came the very same day. “A man walked into my workplace and said he had just come to bless me with one hundred dollars,” Majoni said. “Although I knew this man, what surprised me most was that he had come on the morning I requested a sign from God. This assured me that God would never fail me in His vineyard.”

In the book, Majoni also explores the reality that the search for purpose is not a straightforward journey. “The journey through rediscovering our purpose of existence is rarely linear,” he said. “There will be days when the purpose remains elusive, when the pain feels unbearable, and when the meaning seems lost. These moments must be acknowledged and processed, allowing space for grief, anger, and frustration. Allow yourself to feel the full spectrum of emotions without judgment.”

Majoni hopes his work will inspire transformation at both personal and community levels. “Engagement with the ideas wrapped in this book will result in individuals realizing that the journey of self-discovery is often one of God’s shaping and molding us into the individuals He created us to be,” he said. “Our talents are gifts from God, to be used for His glory and the benefit of others.”

The official launch event in September, he said, will be more than a book unveiling. “This event is going to make a great impact on the audience as we are going to unpack the major themes and the whole scope of the book during the panel discussion,” Majoni revealed. “It is going to be a great moment for the audience who long to have signed copies, as well as a photo shoot with the author and the Guest of Honour.”

The launch will also showcase his two other titles, Overcoming Hindrances to Faithful Tithing and Rediscovering Deep Hope Against All Hope.

Majoni believes Rediscover Your Purpose for Existence will speak to “the quiet whisper within” his readers — the persistent inner voice often drowned out by life’s noise. “I foresee it speaking to those who have dared to listen, to those who have bravely embarked on the often challenging but ultimately rewarding journey of self-discovery,” he said.
