Rusape Town Secretary, Solomon Gabaza has been suspended from his duties with immediate effect on the grounds of alleged abuse of office.
Gabaza was suspended today in terms of section 6(4) of the statutory instrument 15 of 2006, facing several allegations abuse of office, misconduct and gross insubordination.
In a letter dated July 2 2020 in position of Post On Sunday, it states that Gabaza allegedly committed acts of misconduct, in recruitment of staff, and failure to follow procurement procedures.
“The reason for your suspension is that your continued attendance at work or continued performance of duties would seriously impair the proper administration or functioning of Rusape Town Council” the letter reads.
Rusape Town Councillors resolved to send Gabaza on a 3 months forced leave on the 11th day of May 2020 which was supposed to expire on the 11th of August, his leave was however terminated on the 2nd of July 2020 and he was advised to report for work and the termination was followed by a suspension letter.
“The effect of this suspension order is that you shall not carry out any duty unless you are directed to do so by the disciplinary committee. You shall not be entitled to any salary or benefits during the period as provided for in terms of Section 6(1) of SI 15 of 2006.
You are required to return the company vehicle and any other properties belonging to Rusape Town Council and the suspension shall be deemed to be cancelled after three months from the 2nd day of July 2020 if the allegation has not been determined
