Harare Correspondent

Harare- Zimbabwe Republic Police today arrested Movement for Democratic Change (MDC A) Deputy Chairperson, Job Sikhala being one amongst many who have been arrested for being part of the 31 July protest.

Sikhala who was on the wanted list by the police is said to have been arrested at a private property in Harare.

Clifford Hlatywayo MDC A deputy National Spokesperson confirmed the arrest to Post On Sunday this afternoon and said he was at Harare Central Police law and order together with his lawyer, Harrison Nkomo.

“His arrest is political, and we all know that the state fears people who speak out their minds” Hlatshawo said

He further highlighted that instead of addressing challenges , government continue to crack down on its citizen and we  strongly  condemn these illegal arrest and demand legal justice as he is set to appear in court tomorrow on charges of enticing public violence.

Sikhala was arrested when the leader of Transform Zimbabwe, Jacob Ngarivhume was at court where he was denied bail for the third time as he appeared before Magistrate Trynos Utahwashe today.

The arrest of Job came at a time when civil society groups, Churches, Regional and International Countries are calling for the Zimbabwean government to deal with reports of abduction, torture, illegal arrests and the justice delivery system which has made Hopewell Chin’ono and Ngarivhume denied bail since July 2020.

Even after denying the critical situation the country is faced with, one Karoi Ward 4 Councillor Lavender Chiwaya was found dead near his home in Karoi.

Views and comments trending on social media are that of political attack and murder while calls are being made to SADC, AU and all key stakeholders to resolve the Zimbabwean crisis which has led to the digital campaign #ZimbabweanLivesMatter amidst the Covid pandemic.
