Zimbabwe will participate in the first ever Pan African Games to be hosted in Egypt end of this month.
The first ever Pan African games will be held in Cairo, Egypt from the 23rd to 31st of January 2020, running under the auspices of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi who is the chairman of African Union.
Over 1000 athletes from 47 African countries with special Olympics Programmes will participate in the seven day competition.
“Athletes will compete in 4 sporting codes which are Athletics ,Basketball, Bocce and Football,”
said the National Director Mr Paul Kaunda.
The Special Olympics Zimbabwean delegation will comprise of the five athletes, Anesu Mero, Patience Mudarikwa, Mufarowashe Shambira, Babra Njovo and Lisalobuhle Nomaswazi Hleza.
These are to be accompanied by their coach Cheryl Hove, Paul Kaunda head of delegation and Spenser Banda as the media personnel.
“The team comprises of athletes from different provinces who will report for camp from 19 to 21 January 2020 to enable the coach to make final preparations before the team departs for Egypt on 22 January 2020,” Kaunda added.
