Barbra Njovo adds another Gold medal for team Zimbabwe at the first ever Pan African games in Cairo, Egypt.
The athletics games commenced on 23 January this year, and will end on Friday 31 January 2020. Team Zimbabwe now have 8 medals in the athletics events and tomorrow will mark the final day of action, hoping that Zimbabwean athletes will add the accolades.
Njovo comfortably won the 200m race on Tuesday, after another speculative 100m race win on Monday, that sees her being the girl of the games, appearing on the front page of the games newsletter.
She also credited experience as the best teacher claiming she used the same experience she had at the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi last year, where she also won a silver medal to her advantage.
“I am so happy. I just want to thank the Lord for power and strength.
“I totally used the experience I had in Abu Dhabi but I never thought I would do that better. I was not expecting the gold medal.”
On the same day, team Zimbabwe which is comprised of five athletes including Cleo Mero strongly pulled in 50m race to win a Bronze Medal. Team captain Patience Mudarikwa was also a podium finisher gallantly becoming second in the 200m race after teammate Njovo, who also encouraged the nation not to sit on the talent, “I would say don’t relax on your talent, use the beauty in every talent you have”.
