Gospel-jazz artist Morren Nengomasha (27) has penned and released her latest single offering, Matiparadza, a tribute to the late 7-year-old Murehwa boy, Tapiwa Makore.
A victim of a gruesome ritual murder that occurred on the 18th of September 2020, the song blends gospel ,jazz and Shona rhetorical prose to tell the somber loss of a young life.
The official launch of the track on social media platforms comes ahead of the planned protest against ritual killings march by musicians and artists under the auspices of the Artists Of Hope Movement, a group which brings musicians and artists from all walks of life together.
First its kind the march is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday in the capital city Harare.
A menace to humanity and social development, ritual killings are fast becoming a growing problem in Zimbabwe . On 14 May 2017 another 3-year-old girl , Makatendeka Loveness Takawira was killed and her body was discovered mutilated in a suspected case of ritual killing.
Tafadzwa Shamba and Tapiwa Makore (senior) – an uncle and namesake to the deceased – Have since been arrested for Tapiwa’s horrific murder.
Musicians and artists believe the protest march will go a long way towards educating people about the ills of ritual killings while stiffer penalties for perpetrators of the heinous crime will also be advocated for during the Friday march.
Born in Harare, Morren started her music career in 2017 and released her debut 9-track album, Kamunamatiro.
