25000 Arrested For Breaking Covid-19 Regulations

Over 25 000 people in Masvingo have been arrested during the Covid-19 lockdown for breaking the regulations set by the government, an official has revealed.

Acting Provincial Information Officer, Mrs Mirriam Dube said 25 095 people have been arrested during lockdown for not abiding to the COVID-19 regulations and 10 700 cars that have been impounded.

“Most citizens were arrested for not wearing face masks and for not abiding to curfew regulations set by the government of Zimbabwe” Dube said.

She urged the public to adhere to the World Health Organisation (Who) guidelines and also to adjust to the new normal as the country is not prepared to cope with the deadlier strian.

“In the face of the new strain , people have to accept that the future lies in embracing the new normal. The virus trend is not certain leaving us to change the way we have been leaving.

“Festivities come and go but our families, jobs and the country need everyone around healthy. Its everyone’s responsibility to ensure adherence to wearing face masks, social distancing and regular hand washing not the police”said Dube.

As of yesterday Zimbabwe had recorded a total number of 14084 cases and 369 Covid related deaths.
