CHIPINGE traditional healer Ester Masoja (65) of Kondana Village under Chief Garahwa Chipinge assulted Shanean Chibememe (27) to death for not taking her medicine.
Chibememe who was mentally ill was taken to the accused’s shrine for healing on February 29 and March 4, 2021 where she allegedly refused to take traditional herbs.
Masoja is being charged under the offense of murder as defined in Section 47(1) (a)(b) of the Criminal Law [Codification and Reform] Act Chapter 9.23.
Masoja will appear before Chipinge Magistrate tomorrow.
It is alleged that on the February 29, 2021 at around 1000 hours, Simba left her daughter, Shanean Chibememe to the traditional healer Ester Masoja for treatment as she was suffering from a mental illness and left her there.
The accused person then assulted the now deceased several times with a whip all over her body allerging that she was refusing to take her traditional herbs.
The now deceased sustained wounds upon her body and was later rescued by her mother Juliet Chibememe who took her to St Peter’s Hospital and later died on March 8, 2021.
The attending doctor confirmed wounds on the now deceased to having been from the assult.
