Rusape residents scramble for sinopharm vaccine which was made available by the government of Zimbabwe.
District Medical Officer, (DMO) Lincoln Nyafesa, confirmed to Post On Sunday that 4000 doses which he said are also not enough for the district.
“We have received 4000 of the 1st dose vaccines which we distributed to all the centres in Rusape but they are not enough, we need more vaccines for the District” Nyafesa said.
Citizens remain skeptical of the covid-19 vaccine and the uptake was caused by mandatory vaccination mainly with government officials.
Supermarkets, TM and OK have also gone further to urge their employees to get vaccinated or they lose the jobs.
Nyafesa however added that regardless of the mandatory vaccination, the uptake for the covid-19 vaccine has since increased as the numbers of positive cases are also increasing with the highest of active cases so far been recorded with 1530 new cases and 33 deaths.
“People are come to get tested everyday at Rusape General Hospital and it’s a positive move towards curbing the spread of the virus” added Nyafesa.
Zimbabwe received 3.5 million doses from China last Saturday of the 60% target and since yesterday, (Monday) Zimbabweans have been getting their Jabs with the 2nd dose expected anytime soon in this month of July 2021
