Former ZPC Kariba head coach has called out for Zimbabwe football fraternity to support Logarusic and desists from unnecessary discouragements.
Rutherford Matondo, who now ply’s his gaffer trademark with division one outfit ZPC Munyati Fc said that warriors gaffer should be supported as Zimbabwe heads to Afcon 2021.
“We know that Loga has been in the social media spotlight and many negative things have been said about him. Remember, Zimbabwe warriors are representing Zimbabwe as a whole and Zdravko will be heading the pack. Lets support him rather than raise our diminutive voices.”
The former Tanganda Fc player said that all eyes are on the Croatian gaffer and Zimbabwean supporters are not prepared to relive COSAFA days.
“Its high time Logarusic showed his prowess. We expect him to be serious come next year. Our group is very good and conducive for a top 2 finish. Even if the group is conducive, our warriors should not relax. Senegal is a tough test and Malawi can cause headaches if given a leeway.”
Zimbabwe was pitted against the Senegal (the lions of Teranga), Malawi and Guinea.
“ZIFA should remember that 2021 is already around the corner, there is need for immediate preparation. Warriors technical department should consider selecting active players who have been playing regularly. This is very important when it comes to spotting of combinations. Zimbabwe is surely not going there to add numbers,” said Matondo.
Zimbabwe welcomes Washington ‘Sekuru Gudo’ Arubi to guard the goal posts. His successful stint at TTM Fc in DSTV Premiership and Nedbank Cup earned him a limelight at warriors camp.
Khama ‘Brilliant’ Billiat seems to be up and running considering his stellar performance in the recent MTN 8 cup game against Mamelodi ‘Amasandawana’ Sundowns Fc. He had been off the field for a while due to injury concerns.
The rest of the warriors camp looks to be active in their respective teams.
