2/3 Majority of Parliament is engulfed with injustices and corruption leading to two more Movement for Democratic Change Alliance leaders to be recalled this Wednesday
Reliably informed, Post On Sunday has it that Hwange central Legislator, Daniel Molekeli and Zengeza west Legislator, Job Sikhala have been put on the slasher list by the Douglas Mwonzora led MDC T party.
The two radical leaders who have been active in their roles as MPs in the 8th Parliament told this publication that they were ready to join over 30 of the members who have been recalled from Parliament following a disputed 2018 General election.
“The move by Mwonzora and his counterparts believed to be the ruling party which has the 2/3 majority in Parliament was only to decimate MDC A which claimed a 2.6 million votes victory in 2018 election against Zanu Pf” said Molekeli.
Majority of MP’s who have been recalled were said to be members of the MDC T but no longer serving the interest of their party when in fact they were showing their allegiance to their leader, Nelson Chamisa.
Alexander Rusero earlier told this publication that, “The Parliament of Zimbabwe has been highly compromised following these recalls by failing to stand its independent right and treat these recalls with litigant it requires as the affect the protection of the people of Zimbabwe and the Constitution on the electoral law”.
Recently 8 more MDC A members were recalled and the High Court ruled that the recall be set aside, but to date, the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda hasn’t written to the members to come back to Parliament and one of the members, Settlement Chikwinya said the Speaker has failed the test of time of showing the independence of the law of Parliament.
“The 3rd and 4th (Jacob Mudenda and Parliament of Zimbabwe) defendants be and are hereby barred from acting on any directive or letter or instruction other than the directive from Mbizo legislator Settlement Chikwinya concerning the recalls” the court ruling states.
But to date none of them has been able to return to Parliament.
The two who have since waited for this day were very active in the areas and playing their oversight roles to Parliament, keeping government and its Zanu pf members always on their toes in governance issues.
Sikhala and Molekeli will be amongst other members such as Regai Tsunga, Willas Madzimure, Chelesile Mahlangu, Kucaca Phulu to mention just a few.
Citizens have expressed dissatisfaction with the way Parliament was decimated, having gone for more than 8 months without representation and development through Constituency Development Funds as a result of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s (ZEC) failure to conduct by-elections.
ZEC has since put the blame on the minister of health, Who doubles as the Vice president, Constantino Chiwenga and the President, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa over covid-19 regulations and announcement of elections dates which are supposed to be made by the sitting President.
Currently Parliament has over 60 vacant seats as a result of deaths and these abnormal recalls by former secretary General of the MDC A, now the leader of the MDC T Douglas Mwonzora.
