A Kwekwe man was attacked and killed by three men over a misunderstanding during a drinking spree.
The grotesque event was confirmed by Provincial Spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko.
He said that the deceased and the alleged culprits were all drinking beer at a popular imbibing place called Phiri night club.
“Zimbabwe republic police is investigating a case of murder where a 29 year old man was found lying in a pool of blood dead in Mbizo 5, Kwekwe. He was discovered by a passerby on 27 October 2021 at about 0430 hours.
On 27 October 2021 at about 0010 hours the now deceased Learnmore Shonhiwa was drinking beer at Phiri night club in the company of Guzeni Bayana a male aged 23 years and Tesha Alfasi a female adult all of Mbizo, Kwekwe. Florence Magaisa a female aged 20 years who was also drinking in the same night clud had a misunderstanding with Tesha Alfasi.”
Circumstances in the report indicate that Magaisa mobilized a group of three men to physically attack Shonhiwa, Tesha and Guzeni.
Guzeni was hit on the knee but the three alleged culprits kept chase.
Mahoko added , “The hired men started attacking Shonhiwa and Guzeni who ran away with the three in hot pursuit. Guzeni was hit with an empty beer bottle on the knee and fell down and the three continued chasing after Shonhiwa.”
The following day at around 0430hrs Shoniwas body was discovered lying beside the road. He was in a pool of blood with his intestines protruding.
Police is calling for the public to assist if there is any information on the alleged murders whereabouts.
“We appeal to members of the public who might have information that can help locating them to inform any nearest police station, use our police hotlines/Whatsapp lines and suggestion boxes doted across the country. Police is keen to interview Edmore Marete, Prosper and Gombani.”
Meanwhile, a 30 year old man was recently beaten and stabbed by his wife’s relative over a cheating hunch.
Mkoba residents were shocked when they discovered that one Precious Munyai (27) had mobilized her relatives and attacked his husband Lovemore Ndava (30) over a misunderstanding.
While informing journalists on a virtual platform, Midlands Provincial Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the case as an attempted murder.
He said, “Police is investigating an attempted murder case where a 30 year old man was beaten by his in-laws after a misunderstanding with his wife.
Matter occurred on 24 October 2021 at about 1030 hours in Mkoba, Gweru.
