ZRP recently confirmed a robbery case were a man was nabbed off his cash and car along Harare Masvingo highway.

This incident happened soon after Zimbabwe Republic Police advised the public to be aware and alert of robbers.

Midlands Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the unfortunate incident.

He said, “Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case of robbery where a 26 year old man was robbed of cash and a car along Harare Masvingo highway on 19 January 2022 at about 2200 hours.

Cosmas Kangirai of Fairfields, Mvuma was hired by five people from Chaka to Chivhu. Upon arrival at 170 kilometre peg the suspects ordered him to stop the car purporting to have reached their destination.”

Circumstances in the report further state that one of the robbers seized Kangirai by the neck, demanding cash from him whilst others searched him.

They tied his hands and legs whilst taking cash amounting to US $360 from him before driving him to Matende Compound Fairfields in Mvuma.

“He managed to free himself and ran away and the suspects drove away,” added Mahoko.

The matter was reported at Mvuma Police Station. Though police attended the scene suspects are still on the run.

ZRP appeals to the public to report if there is any information which might lead to the apprehension of these culprits.

“We are appealing to members of the public with information that can help identify the suspects who are three males and two females and subsequently recover the vehicle to approach the nearest Police. The vehicle is a white Toyota Runex registration number ADQ 3872. Once again we urge drivers to desist from the habit of offering lifts to strangers since some of them will be moving criminals,” said Inspector Mahoko.
