I say you are courageous because starting a business is scary and full of uncertainty and challenges. You are also inspiring because you looked around and wanted to make a better life for yourself, your family and your community with your talents and ideas, Ambassador Pamela Tremont said during the official launch of the AWE, in Harare, Zimbabwe.
AWE’s journey began with a simple yet powerful idea, to create a supportive ecosystem for women entrepreneurs worldwide. By providing comprehensive training, mentorship, and networking opportunities, AWE helps women overcome the unique challenges they face in the business world today, without excluding the digital age.
In a world where women’s economic empowerment is crucial for growth and development, the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) is a beacon of hope. This innovative program equips enterprising women with the knowledge, networks, and access they need to launch and scale successful businesses.
From building confidence and leadership skills to developing business acumen and financial literacy, AWE’s holistic approach addresses the complexities of women’s economic empowerment. The program recognizes that women’s participation in the economy is critical for driving growth, improving livelihoods, and advancing social progress.
AWE’s impact is felt at the local level, where public- private partnerships, local collaborations, and U.S. Exchange Alumni networks come together to create a supportive community for women entrepreneurs. Mentorship programs pair women with experienced business leaders, while access to capital and networking opportunities help them grow their businesses.
Ambassador Tremont said since her arrival in Zimbabwe, she has focused on how the US can partner with the Government and private sector to improve the investment climate.
“Your efforts transform informal hustles into legitimate, employment creating ventures and will inspire other,” added Tremont.
