Admore Mbonda in Kariba
Kariba – In a match characterized by tactical discipline and missed opportunities, ZPC Kariba FC and Simba Bhora FC played to a 0-0 draw at Nyamhunga Stadium, leaving both teams searching for their first win of the season.
From the outset, the match showcased a blend of skill and strategy. ZPC Kariba’s winger, Sam Makawa, nearly put his team ahead in the 4th minute, but his shot drifted wide, hinting at the tight contest that was to follow. Simba Bhora responded with a threatening free kick from Never Tigere in the 18th minute, only for ZPC Kariba defender Boid Mutukure to clear the ensuing danger.
As the first half progressed, Simba Bhora’s Donald Mudadi exploited a gap in the ZPC defense, but his attempt to score was thwarted, resulting in a corner kick as the half drew to a close. Both teams displayed commendable resilience, yet neither could find the breakthrough.
The second half saw ZPC Kariba take control of possession, dictating the pace of the game. However, their inability to convert opportunities into goals proved costly. A potential game-winner from Demera in the 71st minute was disallowed for offside, igniting protests from the ZPC players and adding to the tension on the pitch.
ZPC Kariba’s coach, Newton Chitewe, reflected on the match, stating, “While we controlled the game for long periods, we need to be more clinical in front of goal.” His sentiments echoed the frustration felt by players and fans alike, as the team struggled to capitalize on their dominance.
Simba Bhora’s coach, Joel Lupahla, praised his squad for their performance away from home. “We showed good character, but there’s always room for improvement,” he noted, emphasizing the need to fine-tune their approach as the season progresses.
The draw leaves both teams with two points each, as they look to gather momentum in their upcoming fixtures. With the season still in its early stages, both ZPC Kariba and Simba Bhora will aim to convert their promising performances into victories, as the competition for points heats up.
