Masvingo Footballers Trust has started yet another program of grooming, training and supporting junior footballers in the province.
The Trust passion of helping marginalized communities, identifying potential and skills development has been implored by residents in the province especially during and after covid-19 lockdown period, a program that would occupy even the old.
The Trust recently handed over a new football kit to its junior academy at Sisk open ground as a way of motivating the youths and making them like their sport.
Chairperson of the Trust, Clayton Shereni told Post On Sunday that his drive is to keep youths off the streets and drug centers.
“We want to see our youths prospering, working and building their lives. Not in the streets taking drugs and going about their illicit activities but keeping themselves busy with activities that help their mental, social and economic health” Shereni said.
The academy is being coached by Dynamos legend, George Magariro, who said the motive behind MAFT is to have a vibrant junior football structure at grassroots level while Shereni added that his wish is to make the academy a centre of Excellency, a stepping stone to those who want to further their carrier in the sport.
