A Rusape municipal cop’s body has been found in Rusape dam three weeks after he was reported missing.
Ishmael Jairos Chirinda’s body was discovered Friday evening by an illegal fisherman not decomposed a situation which has left many residents worried to what could have happened to him, he was retrieved on Saturday morning.
Makoni district police Spokesperson Muzondiwa Clean confirmed the death.
“I can confirm that the council staff has been found dead at Rusape dam. His body will be taken to Harare for a post mortem as part of our investigations into the cause of his death,” police said.
The fish poacher found the body as he prepared to cast his nets into the dam and promptly made a police report who however said they could not retrieve the body the same night.
Jairos’ body is the second to be retrieved from the dam after another was found in the dam.
Police are still to ascertain both his identity and cause of death.
Meanwhile, a Headlands woman has been arrested for fatally assaulting her six-year-old son for soiling his pants.
Definite Mudewairi, 22, of Nyahanga Village A is being charged with the murder of Knowledge Chebundo who died upon admission at Headlands clinic.
Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyati confirmed the matter to Post On Sunday.
