We Are hungry For More, Tapera

By Mutare Correspondent

Gem Boys technical head Jairos Tapera has heightened the need to keep the winning fire burning in this year’s competitive league campaign championed by Manica Diamonds, Ngezi Platinum, and Highlanders.

Manica Diamonds who are currently sitting on third position on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League have had a stellar perfomance both at home, Gibbo stadium and away from home since the genesis of this years edition.

Speaking to Post On Sunday the Kwekwe based gaffer said his side is hungry for more wins and better perfomance in a league that has been dominated by Baltemar Bruto’s side Highlanders who hail from Emagumeni.

“We are not at all we are thinking of the top two teams (Ngezi Platinum and Highlanders) but the most important fact is to remain with our objective of winning as many games as possible.”

Quizzed on whether the depth of the team from defense to the attack has been the secret behind the pitch perfect perfomance Tapera said his technical team was given an opportunity to amass a strong side and it’s an advantage that results are coming.

“People should appreciate what the technical team has done and what they will continue to do.  l suppose every team technical was given an opportunity to assembly and they did what they have including us,” added Tapera.

Manica Diamonds welcome wonder kid Fortune Binzi who has succumbed to a crucial injury that placed him of the team card for a number of weeks.

The Mutare based side recently got the signature of Tawanda Macheke who was plying his trade in South Africa with former DSTV Premiership side Mariztburg United.

He joins a defiant front attack in the caliber of Donald Ngoma, Fortune Binzi, Bret Amidu, Michael Tapera, and Panashe Mtasa.

“We will continue to know each other better as a team continue to  improve the team individually continue to as a team. continue to improve team play so we win many games,” added Tapera.

Manica Diamonds go into this years edition of Chibuku Super Cup a happy bunch after dismantling the Green machine, Caps United 2 nil at Gibbo stadium in the lowveld.

Manica Diamonds have so far amassed 32 points while second placed Ngezi Platinum occupy the second spot with 33 points after week 18 round of fixtures.

Highlanders are at the helm of the league with 38 points after sharing spoils after a scoreless contest against a resurgent ZPC Kariba side now under the watchful eyes of Luke “Vahombe” Masomere who was previously previous in charge of Mutare based outfit Mutare City Rovers.
