Zimbabwe and Latvia have taken a significant step towards strengthening their economic and trade relations, with the two countries’ leaders pledging to deepen their ties.
During a meeting between Zimbabwe’s Speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Francis Mudenda, and Latvia’s President, Edgars Rinkevics, the leaders discussed ways to expand economic cooperation.
Mudenda expressed gratitude for Latvia’s support during Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, while Rinkevics affirmed his country’s friendly relations with Zimbabwe and interest in strengthening political, economic, and trade relations between the two countries.
“This visit is a positive development for economic and Latvia have taken a significant step towards strengthening their economic and trade relations, with the two countries’ leaders pledging to deepen their ties,” added Mudenda.
” It was resolved that modalities be out in place for the establishment of a parliamentary friendship association that will guide the relations between the two legislators.
“I am confident that the benchmarking visit will have a positive impact on Zimbabwe as parliament strives to strengthen the legislative process for the benefit of the people,” said Mudenda.
The Speaker also met with several other Latvia government officials to discuss climate change, renewable energy and agriculture and information and communication technology just to mention but a few.
