ADVANCED English Dictionary defines the word dexterity as “ability in using the hands. Being talent in the multi use of hands is rare but Harare based lady; Mai Bridget Magawa (nee Bundo) is somewhat dexterous.
Born in Harare 40 year ago, Mai Bridget is a teacher, tailor and singer wrapped in one. Speaking to Post On Sunday from her Kuwadzana base in Harare, Mai Bridget revealed that it is by the grace of God that she can perform the three responsibilities without hassles.
“I am a teacher by profession and I am a talented dressmaker and an artiste who plays mbira instrument, singing in four local languages being ChiShona, English, IsiNdebele and Nyanja”.
“Balancing my three talents isn’t easy but I am managing” she said.
“I started music in 2019 and I play mbira for my band called The Psalms of Praise which I named to remind people that we were created by God only to Praise Him.
“So far I have recorded a six track album titled Soldier On (Tsungirira) songs that was produced by Jonathan Mgazi where you find the hit song Gomarara as well as Utiziro, Baba ndinochema, Tsvaira moyo and Rega vatambure,” said Magawa.
Mai Bridget Magawa revealed that she has another six track gospel album coming soon of an Afro fusion genre
“I am currently working on a six track album which has songs like Ndichadzoka, Rapa Moyo, Mumwe mukana, Itai muponesi izvo munoda, Mutsvene ngaatumbidzwe and Meso kuna Jesu which shall be released in June this year.
“I want to thank my fans for supporting me as the gospel music journey is tough. I thank my producer, family and mostly band members. I am nothing without the much needed support from you,” she added.
