The Zimbabwean Government has made another move towards the reduction of the spread of the novel corona virus by declaring ‘No vaccination, no work and no salary for civil servants’.
Following the opening of schools, teachers in Zimbabwe had threatened not to attend classes due to economic hardships and poor remuneration which was not enough for their transport to attend lessons.
Government issued a statement that no teacher will get his or her salary if they don’t report for duty while reports of pupils affected by covid-19 were being reported across the country. For this reason a mandatory vaccination was enacted for all public services personnel.
Speaking after a post cabinet briefing, Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa said, following the previous announcement that all civil servants should be vaccinated, cabinet resolved that all unvaccinated civil servants must not report for duty.
This publication has it that over 200 students have tested positive to Covid-19and some schools even closed in Matebeleland .
however cabinet resolved to address concerns raised by churches with High Court ruling allowing unvaccinated congregants to attend services and cabinet stressing that only vaccinated congregants but resolved to increase the number to 100.
According to report, only 5% of civil servants had been vaccinated since the commencement of the inoculation program in Zimbabwe.
